By Mathilda Garrido Lucay.
I sat down as a cold tear goes down my tender, fragile face,
All days are balmy but today the sun is low, and I am stuck in my headspace.
Bells Jingle, and angels carol chant to the people.
The loving moon is blushing to the rising sun.
Christmas is here and the bells ring in the chapel.
The stars appear, and they reveal to anyone.
I stand my ground, and keep my faith, one-on-one, I can hear.
The ocean goes, and the cars come, I can feel it, from ear to ear. I am here. I pretended I am filled with joy, like kids are filled with toys. I saw all the girls and boys, and remembered my young years with happiness and joy. Christmas Day is here, and the sky is clear, a hot Australian day, I spot my family happily, and I forgot what love feels like, what life feels like.
With the warmth of Summer, close and loud, when the sun comes, come here, in the ocean, stand and hum, in the angel’s motion.
New soul, and no control, of its whole emotion.
It’s a new year, with new air. We live, we love, we give, we look above. ‘Ring out the wild bells to the wild sky’, they say, but
the flying cloud, and the frosty light are ringing and singing ‘no please stay’. The year is dying in the night.
And I am tired of this fight.
I can’t seem to find the light.
Ring out the wild bells, and let me die.
Therefore I am not scared. The life I have is the best. The light that we seek is part of the fight, and the night will die but the sun will rise. Tomorrow is the first day with a new soul, and eyes. Let me tell you, it is hard to get through but the sky’s still blue and the stars still shine, say to yourself “this year is mine” and we will still live, we will still love, we will still give but with new eyes. The new soul with no control now the control of its whole emotion, is like the hum of the angels’ motion. With motivation, and determination, this year will not be another, but it will be the power of the new life that we shouldn’t fear. Happy New Year!
